The Center for the Study of Architecture in the Arab Region (CSAAR) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promote and encourage the study, understanding, and evaluation of architecture in the Arab region. The center's focus is on encouraging and enhancing the comparative study of issues key to contemporary architecture in the Arab World. To this end, the center aims to organize and otherwise support study, teaching, conferences, exhibitions, and publications devoted to enhance our understanding of architecture and the built environment in the Arab World.

 The center also seeks to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information about architecture of the region to the academic and wider community as well as to serve as a clearinghouse of information and resources related to the issue .

The Principal Activities of the Center include

· Organizing conferences that bring together professionals, academicians, scholars, and public figures from the region and the rest of the world.

· Presenting an annual series of seminars, public lectures and other events organized around a theme chosen each year.

· Publishing, on an occasional basis, articles and monographs resulting from our conferences, seminars, lecture series, and other events.

· Collaborating with scholars and other organizations in the region and abroad to conduct and publish research related to architecture and architectural education. The center also hosts an active Arabic translation program.  For more information visit our Publication Program page.
